Air purifier filter light won't turn off?
In one line: most filter-change lights don't clear on their own after you fit a new filter — they run on a timer you have to reset manually, usually by holding a button for a few seconds. If it still won't clear, the filter isn't seated or a panel switch isn't engaging.
Why the light stays on
The indicator is typically a usage timer, not a real dust sensor — it counts hours of run time and lights up when the interval is reached. Fitting a new filter doesn't reset that timer automatically on most units; you have to tell the unit you've changed it.
How to reset it
- Fit the new filter and close the panel fully.
- Power the unit on.
- Hold the reset button — often the "Filter" / "Reset" button, or sometimes the power or a combination — for about 3–5 seconds until the light blinks or goes out. Check your model's manual for the exact button.
If it still won't clear
- Filter not fully seated — reseat it so it clicks into place; some units won't run or reset if the filter is loose.
- Panel/lid switch — many units have a safety switch that must be pressed by a properly closed cover; make sure the panel is fully shut.
- Held the wrong button or not long enough — try again, holding longer; confirm the correct button in the manual.
- Genuinely due — if it's a real sensor and the filter is old, the light is doing its job (see change intervals).
