In one line: waiting rooms gather unwell and vulnerable people in shared air for long stretches. A portable HEPA purifier sized for a strong air-change rate lowers the concentration of airborne particles between people — a supplement to ventilation, not a replacement.

Why the air matters

Respiratory infections spread partly through airborne particles that linger and build up in poorly ventilated rooms, and a waiting area is exactly where infectious and susceptible people sit together. Continuous HEPA filtration removes those particles, reducing how much accumulates between patients — the same principle used in care homes and behind purifiers in reducing airborne viruses. Dental practices have the added factor of procedure aerosols.

How to size and run

Aim for a high air-change rate — often 4–6 ACH for clinical waiting areas — by choosing CADR for the room volume, using more than one unit in a large room.
