Ozone generator vs air purifier
In one line: they are not the same thing. An air purifier filters the air (HEPA + carbon) and is safe to run around people. An ozone generator deliberately produces ozone — a reactive gas that irritates the lungs — and is not recommended for occupied rooms. Don't treat the two as interchangeable.

Why the difference matters
Ozone reacts with odours and some microbes, which is why generators are marketed for smoke or "shock" deodorising. But reaching a level high enough to do that also means a level high enough to irritate airways and worsen asthma, and ozone can create further irritating by-products by reacting with indoor chemicals. Which should you use?
For everyday home air — allergens, dust, smoke particles, smells — use a filter-based air purifier. Ozone generators are an industrial/remediation tool used in empty spaces by people who then air the room out thoroughly before re-entry; they are not a home air-quality device.
