Air purifier for wood smoke and log burners

In one line: wood burning is one of the biggest indoor sources of fine PM2.5, plus smoke odour. You need HEPA/MERV-13 for the particles and a substantial carbon stage for the smell — but tackling the stove and ventilation matters just as much.

Why wood smoke is a problem indoors

Even a well-sealed stove leaks some smoke when you open the door to refuel, and poorly seasoned wood or a badly drawing flue makes it worse. Wood smoke is rich in fine PM2.5 that penetrates deep into the lungs, and it carries a strong lingering odour. A purifier cleans what escapes into the room, but reduce what escapes in the first place: burn dry, seasoned wood; make sure the flue draws properly and is swept; open the stove door slowly; and ventilate. Filtration plus a well-run stove beats either alone.
