In one line: a bathroom's issues are damp, mould spores and odours. A purifier can capture airborne mould spores and, with carbon, reduce smells — but the real fixes for a bathroom are the extractor fan and controlling moisture, not filtration alone.
Moisture comes first
Bathrooms are the dampest room in the house, and damp is what feeds mould. An air purifier does not remove moisture — that's a job for the extractor fan, opening a window, and (in persistently damp bathrooms) a dehumidifier. So the first line is always ventilation and moisture control; a purifier is a supporting act.
Where a purifier does help

- Odours — a genuine carbon stage cuts smells (though an extractor vented outside does more at source).

Keep the unit away from direct water and steam (splashes and damp can clog the filter and are an electrical risk), site it where airflow is clear, and don't rely on it instead of fixing ventilation. In a small bathroom a modest CADR is plenty; the bigger win is running the extractor during and after showers.
